The Canadian Politics Section of the American Political Science Association was founded in 2009.

The Section’s founding president was Dr. Patrick James of the University of Southern California.  The section has grown in membership to approximately 200 members.

Our goal is to support the Canada-related research, teaching, and outreach efforts of political scientists affiliated with the APSA.  A variety of programs support this mission.  First, we share information related to Canadian politics, conferences, and other activities, among our membership.  Annually, we organize panels at the general APSA conference, give an award for distinguished books published by Section members, and recognize the distinguished careers of our members by giving them a  ‘lifetime achievement’ award.  We also sponsor receptions at the annual APSA meetings, fostering informal interaction among our members and providing young scholars with important networking opportunities.

We hope you both enjoy visiting our website and consider becoming a member of our section.  Please note that Graduate Student members of the APSA can join the Section at no additional cost to their basic APSA student membership.
